Eynesbury 24 February 2012

The Annual Marcus Oldham Golf Day was again held at the fabulous Eynesbury Golf Course, near Melton. This year we welcomed an amazing entry of 27 golf teams who competed in an ‘Ambrose with a twist’ competition. Players were entertained on course with opportunities to play archery, beat the pro, a hole-in-one insurance hole of $10,000 (unfortunately no winners), longest drive and nearest to the pin.

A fantastic morning was shared by non-golfing guests as we were entertained by guest speaker Geordie Taylor, Warrambeen Film Festival. Geordie amused us with a fantastic array of short films. His selection had us laughing, crying, intrigued and thoroughly engrossed in some thought provoking films. Geordie is founder and organiser of the Warrambeen Film Festival, which runs over the first week end of March annually at Sheep Station Warrambeen, Rokewood Victoria – an amazing w/e that involves short films, food and wine, music, camping etc – not to be missed.

A beautifully warm day, golfers returned to the cool of the marquee and were greeted by some hit songs played by Catherine Shelly and Buddy England. Once lunch was served Hamish McLachlan host of the day, thoroughly entertained guests when interviewing the 3 AFL panel members, Cam Mooney, Craig Kelly and Gillon McLachlan. Then Hamish and Nick Strauss made a great auctioneer duo, selling some wonderful items to raise funds for the College and to this year’s charity, Cottage by the Sea.

Thank you to this year’s major sponsor ‘MC Herd’ and the following sponsors Virbac, Baillieu Vineyard, Warrambeen Film festival, Eynesbury Golf, Hope and Co, Hamish McLachlan, Geelong Football Club, Munday and Son, AFL, Darley, Cottage by the Sea, Estancia Gates, Sealink, Stranraer Homestead and Boundary Bend Ltd. Thank you to our Foundation Chairman Antony Baillieu (FM 71), Sybil Baillieu, Carol Hudson, Eynesbury Golf Manager, David Tapping and the Eynesbury staff.

Thank you to all our guests, golfers and non-golfers, who continue to make the Marcus Oldham Fundraising Golf day a fixture in their annual calendar and in turn support the future of Marcus Oldham.

We look forward to welcoming many more graduates and friends to our 2013 Annual Golf Day on Friday 23 February at Eynesbury Golf Course, Melton.
